TACDB was founded in 1989 originally known as the International Action Committee for Democracy in Burma.
A few years later, when the committee decided to focus its activities on Thailand and changed its name to the current “Thai Action Committee for Democracy in Burma “ or in short: TACDB. In 1996, TACDB began monitoring the human rights situation of Burmese migrant workers in Thailand and built up several activities that aim to support them. Since 2008, TACDB has been legally registered as a foundation under the Thai Ministry of Interior. It is one of relatively few Thai organisations working on Burma issues.
